Best Bromo Ijen Tour Transport Options

July 8, 2022

You can use Bromo Ijen Tour Transport to get to Mount Bromo. The simplest route is to choose Surabaya as your starting point and then decide which entry route you prefer. Next, Cemoro Lawang is the closest village or location to Mt. Bromo. It is only about 3–4 kilometers from Mt. Bromo and is easily accessible by foot. There are three ways to get to Mount Bromo.

Because it is easier to reach by public transportation, this Bromo Ijen Tour transport route is popular with tourists, the majority of whom are backpackers. Some travelers referred to the route as the Probolinggo route.

Cemoro Lawang is the closest village to Mt.Bromo, about 3–4 kilometers straight away, and it is only from this village that you can walk to the viewpoint to see the sunrise. Seruni Point (3rd viewpoint) takes about 1 hour to reach; continuing up to Kingkong Hill (2nd viewpoint) takes about 40 minutes at night or 30 minutes during the day.

If you are coming from the west, such as Yogyakarta or Surabaya, or the east, such as after the Ijen tour, you must change to a van, a.k.a. “Bison,” at Probolinggo before heading to Cemoro Lawang village.

MOUNT BROMO (with Malang Route)

Some tourists who travel to Bromo from Yogyakarta by private car or public transportation such as train, usually stay overnight in Malang or extend their stay for a couple of days to explore Malang before doing the Bromo Tour. For a Bromo tour from Malang, you can drive directly to Mt.Bromo via Tumpang, or first, drive to Wonokitri village by normal car and then switch to the jeep, or go to Cemoro Lawang village and then decide whether to walk or take the jeep.

This Bromo Ijen tour route goes through Wonokitri village and is rarely used by tourists, but some Yogyakarta agents/operators use it. This option is not suitable if you intend to walk to the viewpoint and Mt. Bromo. The guests will spend the night in Tosari village, where good hotels include Bromo Cottages Hotel and Plataran Bromo. Because the distance is shorter than going to Cemoro Lawang, some travel agents in Malang and Surabaya also use this route for the Bromo Midnight Tour.

The cost of transport from each origin may be different. Different experiences and perspectives are available in the three route options listed above. If you would like to try one of three routes to get to Mount Bromo and Ijen Crater, you can contact Bromo Ijen Tour Transport now.
