How to Climb Kawah Ijen Volcanic Crater Lake

It has been started before that the best time to hike the Mount Ijen is at night. Most of time, tourists who want to visit the crater will start their journey at 1 P.M or 2 P.M. This is such an ideal time since with two hours of climbing, it is estimated that you will reach the crater at 4 or 5 in the morning. You will have some time to take a rest at the top of the mountain before you are ready to enjoy the sunrise. There will be a lot of hotels and affordable inns you can find just at the slope of the mountain to allow you start your journey in such ideal time. Climbing in the late morning will also make it possible for you to enjoy starry sky and fresh air, something that you cannot have if you live in big city.

Following the hiking path will not be difficult at all since there is paved track available which is mainly use by local sulfur rock miners. You don’t even need any experience as mountaineer at all if you want to successfully climb the mountain. The only need you need to prepare is your physic and proper outfits to wear. Since you will go to the top of mountain, you will need good stamina. Also, the atmosphere around Mount Ijen is cold and sometimes drops up to 20C so that you need thick clothes, jackets, and gloves. Gas mask is also needed since the air will be mixed with sulfur smoke but you don’t need to be worried about the sulfured air since most tourists have no problem with it.
