On the second day of Surabaya to Tumpak Sewu trip, we will start the journey at 7 am after breakfast.

Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, also known as Coban Sewu or Air Terjun Tumpak Sewu, is a spectacular waterfall located in the eastern part of Java, Indonesia, near Mount Semeru, the highest active volcano on the island.

This waterfall is renowned for its beauty and is often described as a “thousand waterfalls” due to its extensive size and the numerous cascades that form a semi-circular curtain of showers against a massive rock face.

Tumpak Sewu is not only impressive in size but also in its accessibility. The hike to the waterfall involves navigating ladders, ropes, and mud steps attached to the rock face, making the journey down to the base of the waterfall an adventurous experience.

Once you reach the bottom, it’s a short walk across a small stream to the waterfall, where you can witness the 120-meter-high falls that will take your breath away.

The waterfall is situated in the Lumajang Regency, with the nearest airport being in Malang, which has direct flights from Bali.

Visiting Tumpak Sewu is a must for nature lovers and adventure seekers, as it offers a unique and unforgettable experience.

It is recommended to visit during the dry season, from April to November, as the rainy season can be dangerous due to falling rocks and tree branches, and the roads may become impassable.

In addition to Tumpak Sewu, there is another waterfall nearby called Goa Tetes, which is a short walk away and offers a series of cascades and caves.

After exploring Tumpak Sewu, we go back to our accomodation and packing up before heading to Cemara Lawang, village near Bromo.
